Arsenal's Woes: A Winning Streak? (12/29)

Who would've thought we'd end this calendar year on a winning streak? Certainly not me. Nevertheless, our gunners took down Brighton today, thanks to our King, Lacazette. The win moved us up to 13th on the table, 9 points ahead of the relegation zone (phew). It also moved us within 9 points of the top four, so it's a relatively tight table going into 2021.

The game itself was pretty boring, but Arsenal, after a lackluster first-half, showed up with an abundance of energy in the second 45'. We found our breakthrough in the 66th minute, when The God's Child Bukayo Saka brilliantly turned past his defender and ran half the length of the pitch before dishing it to Lacazette, who then finished calmly. Another goal for Lacazette, and another assist for Saka. I am becoming obsessed with the chemistry between Laca and our youngsters, something that I am yet to see between them and Aubameyang. What is up with our "Star" striker anyway?

My opinion might be a bit too harsh on our Captain, considering he's been our top scorer the last few years, and consistently challenges for the Golden Boot. With the being said, I want him out of the starting 11 for now. Willian and Auba, for the past couple months, have been the main reason for our lack of creativity and attacking prowess. Our attack consistently dies when they get the ball, and it pains me to say that. I just don't remember the last time Auba really created a chance, or gave the defense any problems. Today, for example, he had a chance that he would normally curl into the far post, but he absolutely chunked it 5 yards wide. Also, and not that I would expect him NOT to shoot in that scenario, Emile Smith-Rowe was all alone at the far post -- could've been an easy goal.

I've just been disappointed with him, and the link up play between Lacazette and our three youngsters behind him has been nothing but exciting the last couple games.

Last thoughts:

- Can't wait for Partey to come back! We need someone to replace Elneny or Xhaka, preferably both.

- Saka is no longer a child. He is a man now.

- Let's take advantage of Lacazette's confidence, it's something we don't have a lot of right now. - - Pablo Mari, the new Per Mertesacker?

Alright, until next year! I'm hoping to start writing about transfer news as well, as I'm expecting us to make a couple signings in this next transfer window. Let's keep this winning streak going!
