Arsenal's Woes: EFL Cup Match-up (12/22)

Arsenal's woes continued today at 3PM ET, as they matched up in the Carabao Cup quarter final against Manchester City. The match ended up as a 1-4 defeat, need I say anything else?

Look, as much as I want to win a match up against a massive Manchester City team, I didn't necessarily expect it. Man City's second team is almost strong enough to finish top 6 in the Prem, whereas our subs would be lucky to have any success in the Championship (2nd Division). With that being said, I'm not that upset about the result, but rather some of the decisions that Mikel Arteta made. Let us talk about this.

First, why the hell is Mustafi playing? In the state that we're in, developing our younger players and giving them first team experience is much more important than giving all the playing time to some bum who isn't gonna be at the club next year. Ever heard of William Saliba? Wouldn't blame you if u haven't, because he hasn't played a single minute of first team Arsenal football since arriving at the club. The $28 Million signing should be playing over Mustafi in games like these 100% of the time.

Secondly, and I have a feeling I'll reiterate this a lot in the future, Mesut Ozil should be on the pitch. You just can't convince me that he would be doing any worse than what we already have out there. This team is struggling to create chances right now, and we have one of the most creative midfielders ever in our squad. The solution is simple if we're talking tactics, but unfortunately there is more to the story (If you'd like me to write a piece about that let me know). #FreeOzil

Lastly, if Leno ever gets injured we are in TROUBLE.

On the other hand, Martinelli looked brilliant before he went down with an apparent ankle injury around halftime. He produced the assist to Lacazette in the 31st minute, and put in an electrifying performance, something we as Arsenal fans have been longing for. I was actually quite happy after the first half. That did not last.

The only positive is Martinelli, and he just reinjured himself. It's very on brand of ArsenaL.
