After the long time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away in November, the final episode he hosted will be airing tonight.
Alex was my favorite game show host out there, over Sajak, Harvey, Foxworthy and the list goes on. Jeopardy! was always a fun show to watch for me. When I was young and I started watching I never knew any of the correct responses, but I still always loved to watch and try to learn. As I got older, I started to be able to actually respond to some clues correctly and the familiar face and voice of Alex Trebek always seemed so inviting and fun.
He always made at least one fun comment or joke when he would interview the contestants. Most of the contestants on the show were always awkward as hell and didn't seem very charismatic, and I loved watching Alex interact with them. He would sort of make fun of them often times, and most of them deserved it. He was just always entertaining.
He also holds the record for most game show episodes hosted by the same person with over 8,000 episodes. Seeing the old pictures, like this one below of him, is pretty cool because you can see just how long he was hosting.

The most impressive thing about Mr. Trebek is how hard he fought against his cancer. He was hosting shows all throughout battling the disease. He was doing really well for some time, but then one day it turned. He still fought hard to bring joy and Jeopardy! to us in our homes. He will certainly go down as the greatest of all time in my eyes, and likely many others' too.
The odd thing about this final episode for tonight is that there won't be some final sign off from him, because he didn't know that this episode would be his last. It will be an emotional ending to the show, and I'm sure there will be some tribute to him as the credits start to roll.
I'm hearing that Ken Jennings, who holds the record for most wins in a row with 74 games, will be guest hosting the show starting on Monday. I think he will be a good replacement for Trebek, but will still never be able to fill the man's shoes.
Hopefully, Jeopardy! can find some other host to take the place, I think Jennings is a great place to start, and after seeing him in the Tournament of Champions a while back, I am certainly rooting for him.
